Trendy gyms don't have classes that simulate playing pool, but playing the game will still burn more calories than sitting still. Just be careful that the fried bar food and beers don't cancel out any health benefits.
While the only aspect of pool that may significantly increase your heart rate is exceptionally tough competition, the game does involve constant movement around the table to assess plays and take shots. In addition, you have to bend and stretch frequently, loosening up muscles you might not normally use.
The "Harvard Health Letter" has reported that for a 155 lb. person, playing pool burns 93 calories in half an hour. That's more than double the amount burned by sitting and reading. Lighter weight people burn fewer calories, while heavier people burn more. A calculator at ProHealth lets you input your weight and the time spent at billiards to customize your number.
Amp It Up
If you're not content with what a regular game of pool does for you, you can always try speed pool. This is a competitive game that can be classified as a cardio workout, and videos are available.

Quick tip: Let's say you are hooked after the break and must push out. If the balls are spread and relatively easy to run, don't leave an open shot, or leave an open shot with the wrong angle for position. If it's a tough table to run, leaving an open shot is usually acceptable. The trap to avoid at all costs is giving your opponent a way to lay down a deadly safety.

Have you ever wondered where to look for a review on a pool product? How do you know if it's high-quality? How do you decide where to buy it from? With so many options, where do you start?
The first place to go is www.billiardreview.net and see the latest reviews for billiard products. Then, see if there have been any articles written in magazines or other online news about it? Next, ask around. Do you know anyone else that has the item? Would they recommend it?
Lastly, shop around. It's worth looking for a company that provides the best value overall. Compare pricing, shipping, variety of other products they offer (for future shopping), convenience, and the value you receive as a whole from that company. What else do they offer to you in addition to buying from them? News, resources, network, or more...you're looking for the total package from your billiard supplier!
So, there you have it. You're on your way to finding the ultimate products and value in the billiard world.
